In a nutshell:
The seeds of EXOFI were sown during a period in which I was travelling to and from a shipyard in Malaysia, where I oversaw the design and construction of a specialised work boat. Dozens of Singaporean stopovers were routinely spent wasting the time of airport watch retailers by lusting after, and never buying, various high-end stainless-steel sports watches.
The more I looked at them the more I wanted to create one of my own, and I soon found myself spending time immersed in the fundamentals of watch design, typography, materials, finishes, movements, and the world of horology generally.
Inspired by what I had seen in those airside boutiques, online, and in print magazines, I rolled up my sleeves, sat down in front of the drawing board, scribed the first circle, and thought… this is something worth doing, and worth doing well.
Our first model, the Wolf Rock 42, came together when, having initially experimented with many tangential concepts, I reverted to fundamentals, found clarity and purpose, finalised a meaningful design language, and applied that language to produce the elements of a watch that I wanted to wear.
Inherently, it’s a forward-looking 'tip of the hat' to the uncomplicated stainless-steel automatics that caught my eye on the wrists of captains, engineers, trawlermen, and blue-water vagabonds around the waterfront of my youth. Scratched, dented, and over-sprayed with paints long since banned. Almost never serviced, and certainly never replaced unless irreparably damaged or lost overboard.
However, our Wolf Rock 42 is cooler and, owing to the modern materials and mechanics, much more resilient, accurate, and reliable.

We like watches and are serious about making good ones.
Our watches are designed entirely by us in our sea-level think tank in Noosa, Australia, where electric lamp oil is burnt over a soundtrack of Pacific surf white noise, the rush of south-easterly winds through dense paperbarks, and the distant howls of semi-domesticated lupine beasts.
We spend time getting the details right.
Our designs are brought to life by established suppliers and individual component manufacturers who are smarter and more well equipped than we are, and have the internal engineering capabilities and inspection processes to deliver the quality we require.
